How Do We Address The Issues Of Equity Of Access To Education?

Technology That Can Stimulate "Discovery Learning" and Develop "Analytical Thinking" and "Problem Solving" is....
Usually the technologies that are most effective for stimulating "discovery learning" and the development of analytical and problem solving skills, "which are and based upon learner creativity" are basic appropriate technologies. Often the more simple the technology, the more the learners are forced to use their own imagination and creativity, and they also participate more actively in the learning process..
For example, when I teach electronics I still utilize plastic bottles with three holes in them to illustrate the charactorists of electric current, voltage and resistance. Why? Firstly, electricity is very difficult to see, right? Secondly, because by working with water which exhibits similar charactoristics (pressure, flow, and restriction) the students do not only see the effects, but they can also touch and feel pressures and currents safely. I have found that through utilzing this concrete practical exercise it is much easier to relate to this experience during the teaching of more complex electronic issues. Rather than watching films or animations which are basically passive-learning exercises.
(The learners are adults from industry or unemployed).
I have worked with computers in education since 1974 and have worked in the field of educational technology (Audio-Visual) since 1977, why do I still use plastic bottles and paper as the technology of preference? You can read more at Appropriate Technology For The 21st Century"
